deliberate upcycling.
I buy 100% of my canvases secondhand. Each one gets cleaned and repaired (if needed) before painting.
deliberate repurposing.
When cleaning my palette knives, instead of using paper towel, I scrape the paint onto mixed-media paper to be repurposed later in other artworks.
deliberate community.
I collaborate with locally-owned businesses to sell my art in person, giving them a percentage from each sale.

meet the artist.
KV (she/her) is a 30-something, self-taught, autistic artist based in Grand Rapids, MI. Using palette knives and heavy-bodied acrylics, she paints bold, textured florals and landscapes, creating ASMR process videos along the way.
She started v.deliberate.art because she has always found sensory relief making art and she's always wanted to work for herself (because traditional work environments aren’t sensory friendly). She chose the name, v.deliberate.art, because she is well-known to be a deliberate person and she wanted the way she makes her art to reflect that. She deliberately decided to make art in an environmentally-conscious and cost-friendly way, because she cares about keeping waste out of landfills (because duh) and getting original works of art into the homes of everyday folks like her (because we all deserve beautiful things).
When she's not painting, she's running after her (very fast) kiddo, taking a dog-nap (as in, trying to sleep in the same bed as a 75-lb greyhound), playing cozy video games, or giving her spouse high blood pressure by starting (yet another) project of some kind. #sorrynotsorry
